Townsend’s Warbler by ATM

Location: 3632 Broadway, New York, NY 10031

Painted: 11/5/2016

About the Bird: Dark, chilly conifer forests of the Pacific Northwest provide a summer haven for smartly patterned Townsend’s Warblers. In winter, these birds scatter down the coast and into cool mountain forests of Mexico. According to APP’s projections, warmer and drier conditions will change many of those forests, making them no longer suitable for the warblers.

About the Artist: London-based street artist specializes in painting endangered birds, including several for the APP Mural Project. He hopes that by bringing color and beauty to neglected areas his art will inspire active participation in improving the environment. “People stop me and say thank you and how much they appreciate it,” he says of the murals. “It makes me feel I’m doing something really valuable.”
