Tawich in the City

An Event Celebrating Canada's Great Inland Sea on Sept. 25 at 7pm

Tawich* has been a hidden gem until now. This one-night-only event will connect your heart, soul, and mind to Canada's great inland sea and its incredible people!

You will see astonishing wildlife footage by the award-winning Water Brothers and hear from the Omushkego leaders like Mushkegowuk Council’s Deputy Grand Chief Natasha Martin, Peawanuck’s Sam Hunter, and Juno Award winner Lawrence Martin, who is galvanizing the protection of his peoples’ sacred lands and waters.

Joining them will be Anna Baggio, seasoned conservation director from Wildlands League,  ÃÛèÖAPP’s boreal conservation specialist Dr. Carrie Gray, and coastal oceanographer Dr. Zou Zou Kuzyk. Indigenous artists like Betty Albert, whose vibrant acrylic colors beg us to view creation in a new way, and emerging new young artists like Robin Kioke and Jeronimo Kataquapit will also be showcased.

🎸Special guests include , a roots-rocker from Attawapiskat First Nation who melds rock, roots, folk, and blues unlike anything else, and Tanya Talaga, an Anishinaabe journalist, speaker, and award-winning writer who amplifies Indigenous voices and stories across Canada and around the world.

🌊Reception to follow with complimentary bannock, bear paws pastry and refreshments where you can mingle with speakers and other guests!
