And the newly tattooed environmentalist? It’s Ashlee Jensen, who raised awareness of her species by brewing a micro beer she called . Each bottle came with a hanging tag. On the front, a spotted owl and on the back, trivia questions about the bird. To sweeten the deal, she threw a Spotted Owl Brew Fest, during which she handed out free beer.

“I learned so much more about this species than I ever anticipated. It’s a really special feeling to know I’m so connected to this endangered species,” Jensen says. “I can be another voice for them.”

She adds, “I’m going to be talking about [the owl] for the rest of my life.”
