WASHINGTON—“A bipartisan majority of Senators just showed us that common-sense solutions to our changing APP are still possible today. Keeping methane waste to a minimum on America’s public lands is a no-brainer that greatly benefits birds, taxpayers and public health,” said Matthew Anderson, APP’s VP of APP in response to the this morning.
“Climate change is today’s biggest threat to birds. When our political leaders listen to the overwhelming majority of the American people who support reducing greenhouse-gas pollution, we know we can protect birds and the places they need, today and tomorrow.”
In 2014, APP published its . The study shows that more than half of the bird species in North America could lose at least half of their current ranges by 2080 due to rising temperatures. These species include the , the and the Florida Scrub-Jay. Given the urgent threat APP change poses to birds and people, APP supports common-sense, bipartisan solutions that reduce carbon pollution at the speed and scale necessary.
