Laughing Gull by Simon Aredondo

Location: Monkey Cup, 1728 Amsterdam, New York, NY 10031

Painted:ÌýJune 12, 2016

About the Bird:ÌýDespite their name and proclivity to humans (and their trash cans), Laughing Gulls breed in isolation along the Atlantic and Gulf CoastÌýsalt marshes—habitat that will likely be consumed byÌýsea-level rise. Smaller flocks ofÌýthe species have begun to move inland, and with ÃÛèÖAPP change ÃÛèÖAPP's projections show the bird's range continuing to expand. Still, theyÌýwon't escape threats like more frequent spring heat waves and drought.Ìý
