David Roux, co-founder and Senior Director of Silver Lake, has been named to the Board of Directors of the APP. Roux’s work as Silver Lake’s Senior Director puts him at the helm of a $14 billion global private equity firm that specializes in technological investment.
“David Roux brings great business acumen, a deep understanding of the role of technology in business, and keen financial insight to APP’s board,” said , President and CEO of the APP. “I look forward to working with him and all of our directors as we move forward with our bold new strategic plan.”
Prior to his role with Silver Lake, Roux was Chairman and CEO of Liberate Technologies, Executive Vice President at Oracle Corporation and Senior Vice President at Lotus Development. He began his technology career as co-founder and CEO of Datext, Inc., the first commercial CD-ROM publishing company.
Currently a member of the Avaya and Intelsat boards, Roux previously served on the boards of Business Objects S.A., Gartner, Inc., Serena Software, Symantec, Thomson, UGS Corp., and was the Chairman of the Board of Seagate Technology. He is also on the board of the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, Jackson Laboratories and The Center for Advanced Studies and Behavioral Science at Stanford University. Roux holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and an M. Phil. from King’s College, Cambridge University. He is a graduate of Harvard College.
Roux joins other recent additions to the APP board: Hector E. Morales, who served as the US Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States; Doug Varley, member of the law firm Caplin & Drysdale; Joseph Ellis, 35-year Wall Street veteran, conservationist and author; Jon Anda, founder and leader of UBS Securities Environmental Markets Group; leading APP scientist Terry Root, Ph.D; and two regional directors: Pennsylvania education expert Leigh Altadonna and Joy Hester, Houston conservation leader and retired real estate attorney. In addition, renowned ornithologist Frank Gill, Ph. D returned to APP’s board last year following a stint as interim CEO.
