About the Bird: Small and graceful, the Black Tern is highly dependent on marsh habitat, which could dry up throughout much of its summer range in the upper Midwest as temperatures rise. Much of that would be preserved by keeping temperatures to 1.5 degrees Celsius over preindustrial levels. New breeding habitat would become available to the Black Tern in the Arctic, but increased wildfire and spring heat waves would complicate its future survival.
About the Artist: is a Spanish artist whose works are exhibited in both private and corporate collections. A graduate of the Central Saint Martins School of Arts in London, she has exhibited internationally in renowned galleries such as the Horta Gallery in Brussels, the Herbert Read Gallery in Canterbury, the Horsebridge Gallery in Whitstable, and the Royal Academy of Arts, Granary Building, Candids Arts Gallery, and Bermondsey Gallery in London, among others. “I like adding color to things,” she says. “So I just took the Black Tern and gave it my colorful touch.”
