Birders reported 655 species and 66 infraspecific forms during the 115th Christmas Bird Count (CBC) with six additional species being reported from count week. Birders continue to show their abilities to find single individuals of species lurking in their count circles. This season high counts of 57 (9%) species/forms were represented by one individual, and 22 percent of the species by 10 or fewer. All-time highs were reported for 52 species/infraspecific forms which were almost double the new records from last season. Forty-three of the new high counts surpassed records that were set in the last 15 years. The oldest record broken was initially set during the 32nd season when 21 Clapper (light-footed) Rails were reported in San Diego, CA. San Diego broke its old record with 26.
