The 2020 ÃÛèÖAPP Photography Awards: Top 100

Take a scroll through this year's spectacular, artistic, and playful avian images, while reading the story behind each.

This year nearly 1,800 photographers from across the United States and Canada submitted more than 6,000Ìýimages to the 11th annual ÃÛèÖAPP Photography Awards.ÌýOur expert judging panel had the difficult task of choosing just sixÌýwinnersÌýand four honorable mentions from the pool,Ìýbut with so manyÌýawe-inspiring submissions, we always enjoyÌýpicking someÌýfavorites that didn't make the final cut.Ìý

As usual, we've selectedÌý100 additional photographs, shownÌýhere in no particular order.ÌýDuring thisÌýyearÌýof collective tragedy andÌýcanceled plans, we are especially gratefulÌýto share aÌýgalleryÌýthat displaysÌýeven a small slice of global birdlife in all of itsÌýstunning and joyous variety,Ìýfrom acrobatic Ospreys to hungry hummingbirds to busy woodpeckers.Ìý

We hope these shotsÌýinspire you to appreciate andÌýperhaps try to captureÌýthe beauty of birds yourself. OurÌýphotography sectionÌý³ó²¹²õÌýeverything you need to get started, includingÌýtips and how-to’s,Ìýgear recommendations,Ìýand ÃÛèÖAPP'sÌýethical guidelinesÌýfor wildlife photography. With skill, patience, and maybe a little luck, you couldÌýfind your shot at taking top honors in ourÌý2021 awards.
