John Mahoney leads design, development, and the overall strategy of APP’s digital products, includingand the . Since joining APP in 2013, John has overseen a complete transformation of our web and mobile properties. He has collaborated closely with the APP Science team to launch special data visualization tools, such as Survival By Degrees, that bring our critical APP science to life, and steered our overall digital product vision to serve new audiences and conservation priorities.

Prior to joining APP, John was head of design and product at The Wirecutter, a product recommendation site since acquired by theNew York Times. Earlier in his career, he led the digital teams of four Bonnier Publicationsmagazine titles (Popular Science, American Photo, Popular Photography, andSound & Vision), directing redesign efforts to help those titles evolve fully into the modern digital age. Prior to his work in digital products, John was an editor and writer forGizmodo,Popular Science, and other outlets.
